Group Therapy Thursday 12th

On Group Therapy Thursday last night we were trying to help out
A youth pastor who just got a tattoo and has one of his youth members is upset because he doesn't think a youth pastor should have a tattoo. What do you think the pastor should do?

You can see what our friends on facebook had to say here

  1. What should the youth pastor do, now that he has the tattoo? Uh - enjoy it? It's not going anywhere.

  2. No offense Mr. Jackson, but tattoos can be removed. It's not painless and not risk free but neither is getting one in the first place. He could still get it removed if he chose to. Besides he can't just "enjoy" it. Ethics aside, people are going to make a deal about his tattoos. People always will. Other people will other people will love them. But the guy has intentionally gone done something highly controversial among Christian, and even the secular world for that matter. Clearly you misunderstood the context of the question here, the point is what should the youth pastor do to explain his reasoning for his choice & or deal with peoples criticism of his actions, not what should he do with his tattoos.

  3. I have a crazy story to relate to this question. One time at youth I remember that my youth pastor actually played a joke on the youth saying that he got a tatoo and everyone flipped. This continued throughout devotions and everyone was convinced that he had a Star Wars tatoo until the end when he explained that it was a test to see how everyone would react.

In the end the youth were relieved that he didn't but it was interesting to see how different people react
